Finding Balance...

So, it's been a week and a half back at work. And really it's been fine. I've been very busy so my days fly by and I'm home with Jaxson before I know it (don't get me wrong - I do miss him very much!) However... it's a whole new routine to figure out. When I get home I want to just sit on the floor and play with Jaxson until its his bedtime. So... I'm trying to figure out how to get my play time in with Jaxson, make dinner, clean the house, do emails/blogs, and let's not forget some time with my wonderful husband. I'm so lucky to have Tim. We are a very good team and he helps so much around the house, but we never seem to be caught up. So, if any of you have some tips/advice for me - I'm listening!

Ok and since I can't do a post without a picture, here's Jaxson straight out of the bath. He LOVES bathtime! And he loves being wrapped up in a towel afterwards too. This is what we do after our bath and we bring him in front of the mirror and he just laughs at himself. He's a hoot.

Soooo cute. We love doing "Baby burrito" with R after a bath, and she cracks up in the mirror, too!!

I think all babies are enamored with their naked, post-bath selves!

Wish I had some advice for you...just make sure you get the occasional babysitting and have some sort of date together, even if its just to Taco Bell! Its important to do everything you can to preserve your relationship with your man, because the kids move on, but you're stuck with him!

balance, hahahahaha. what the ehck is that??? an elusive little thing!! but decide what your priorities are and do WHATEVER you have to to protect them b/c no one else is going to do that for you!!! oh, and move to VA, have tim get a job here at VT and then hang with me during the day in my messy house so you can go home and say "whew, her house is a pig sty, i am glad mine is not that bad!"

You should see my house. I need advice too and I am here all the time! Kids grow up too fast, so enjoy him.

That picture cracks me up. :)

There are tons of books out there about how to do it, but I've read them all and I still haven't figured it out. I agree with Jody - set some priorities and concentrate on those.
Love the bundle of baby!

He is SO cute! My advice is, if both parents are working...then hire a house cleaner so that you have more time together. It will help your marriage and give you more time with your son! Even if it's every other week...at least you can get by without doing the floors or the bath-tubs, etc. I recommend 1 load of laundry every night right after the baby goes to sleep. It keeps it caught up and then you and your husband have time together. As your son gets older, he can help you with dinner in the kitchen...my 3 yr old loves to help. In the meantime, I recommend putting him in his highchair in the kitchen with you and give him baby friendly finger paints and paper...he can make his own artful creation while you guys cook dinner...and the whole family is together. Love your pics!

Too cute!!!! Our youngest kids also love being wrapped up after bath- must be comforting or something. My tip- schedule your time. Works for me, but not for everyone.

Dawn and Tim your son is so darn cute! After parenting for 23 years I would say, anything that gets done have joy, anything that doesn't it'll be around until you have time to do it or your mother in law is on the way!! Enjoy raising Jaxson, the time and effort you put into doing that will bring forth a blessing that you can't imagine.
